The themes for this workshop focus on surveillance, disease prevention and control, infection prevention and control and communication. These key activities are critical to inform and strengthen our collective responses for effective prevention and mitigation of infectious diseases of public health importance.

Breakout sessions will be a collaboration between colleagues from a provincial perspective (Public Health Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care) and local public health units

Objectives:

  • Examine the range of infection prevention and control measures in the management of infectious diseases
  • Evaluate disease-specific public health recommendations for disease mitigation
  • Describe the different methods of detection and surveillance of infectious diseases
  • Identify optimal tools and processes to enhance data quality and ensure timely surveillance reporting
  • Develop professional networks within the infectious disease and infection prevention and control related community
  • Assess communication strategies to overcome challenges in infection prevention and control and infectious disease control

Target Audience:

  • Public health physicians
  • Infection Prevention and Control/Communicable Disease Program Managers
  • Public health Nurses, Public Health Inspectors, Epidemiologists working in CD/IPAC and surveillance

An application for credits for continuing education with The College of Family Physicians of Canada and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons is being made.

  • CANCELLATION POLICY - The guest must provide a credit card for the first nights room and tax. If the reservation is cancelled within 24 hours of arrival, a one night room and tax will be charged.
